ENGLEWOOD, CO. AUGUST 26, 2020 – Datacenters.com, the leading technology platform, directory and marketplace for buyers and sellers of IT infrastructure services globally announced a strategic alliance with American Tower to offer colocation hosting and edge data centers.
As part of the agreement, Datacenters.com is now offering American Tower’s colocation data center services and edge data center footprint. American Tower currently has six edge data centers in its portfolio supporting adoption of edge computing and Internet of things (IoT) as demand grows. Their locations include Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Austin and Denver.
“It’s exciting to see how edge computing is unfolding,” said Mike Allen, SVP of Solutions and Engineering at Datacenters.com. “Pushing data to the edge is going to become a critical factor in the adoption of future technologies like IoT, autonomous vehicles and cloud applications.”
Datacenters.com helps its users purchase colocation hosting, cloud services and network infrastructure solutions online with a directory of hundreds of providers and thousands of data center locations globally. This includes listings and map views of traditional colocation facilities, cloud availability zones, disaster recovery sites, and now edge data center locations.
American Tower’s leading portfolio of wireless communications sites provides the ideal locations for our customers to enable wireless connectivity and optimize the coverage and capacity of their networks. To satisfy the increasing demand for edge computing and regional data centers, American tower has recently expanded its multitenant solutions, leveraging its nationwide footprint and access to space, power, and connectivity to include edge data center offerings. These new self-contained edge data centers are available for colocation in select markets.
“As American Tower expands its edge data center business, we are working to ensure our data centers are a top consideration for those looking to build out their network and edge infrastructure,” said Eric Watko, VP of Product Line Solutions, US Tower Innovation for American Tower. “Partnering with Datacenters.com provides us access to one of the largest directories.”
All American Tower edge data centers have been added to the Datacenters.com directory. They are also participating in the IGNITE Project Platform®, a digital RFP tool that helps Datacenters.com users streamline IT procurement by reducing the time it takes to research, contact and receive proposals from colocation providers matching their requirements.
