Google, who already employs approximately 2,500 people in Ireland, will create 300 more construction jobs and 60 full-time employees upon completion of the project.

The data center will sit next to the existing facility in Clondalkin, Dublin, rise 2-storites and have 30,361 sqm - with additional outbuildings.

Taking advantage of the naturally cool climate in Ireland, Google plans on continuing to use the advanced air-cooling system already in place at the first data center it opened back in September of 2012, and will be twice its size.

According to Google: (Dublin) has the right combination of energy infrastructure, developable land, and available workforce for the data center.""

Google also hosts European data centers in Hamina, Finland and St. Ghislain, Belgium.

Google is not the only major company who houses its data in Dublin: Microsoft, Digital Realty, PayPal, Facebook, Amazon, Cogent, Level 3, TeleCity and Verizon all occupy the area known as ""Profile Park"" or provide services to the facilities.

Ireland and specifically the Dublin area of the island is quickly becoming a major hub of data center activity..
