Windstream Goes to The Windy City and Opens New Data Center in Chicago

"Things are happening in the Windy City (Chicago) for Windstream Corporation! The company opened its latest data center on the 10th of September. This new choice location expands one of the leaders in the datacenter races' long reach from Akron, OH to Andover, MA, Tulsa, OK to Winter Haven, FL and all points in between.

Windstream's Chicago Data Center is Open for Tours and Ready for Business

Up until now, Windstream Hosted Solutions (Windstream) did not have a data center located in the tactical datacenter hub of Chicago. This new center spans across a 20,000-square-foot facility with over 15,600 square feet of data center space and is equipped to facilitate Windstream's new EMC(R)-powered storage services. This new data center should continue to aid the company's financial plan and bring long-term growth.

Besides being the usual state-of-the-art datacenter that Windstream has made a name for itself - the growing demand for data centers and managed services from customers in the area should put this new center at the top of Windstream's list of premiere datacenters. The unit will also lend support to Windstream Hosted Solutions to manage its huge network of cloud computing solutions. This technology aids in improving the efficiency and accessibility of IT resources and applications.

Windstream - which currently has more than 20 data centers across the U.S. - is increasingly investing capital in developing its data center business. Late last year, the company revealed plans to build two data centers in Nashville, TN and Durham, NC - both expected to open this year. Prior to that, in Apr 2013, the company had set up a data center in McLean, VA.

Which make us curious, when will the company set it sights on the west? Particularly, the Mountain West and California? At this time, the company hasn't stated when and if it will make a march on west, but we're pretty sure that it's only a matter of time before the datacenter giant takes on our area.

The continuous opening of such data centers should not only drive subscriber growth for the company but will also improve its overall business performance, and provide a competitive advantage for the company and its continued and sustained growth."
