QTS Data Centers: Calatorao Data Center
About Calatorao Data Center
The QTS data center campus—QTS Calatorao—is QTS’s first facility in Spain, developed and operated on a 224-hectare site in Calatorao, province of Zaragoza, Aragon. Backed by investment funds managed by Blackstone, the project—known as Project Rhodes—represents a multibillion‑euro commitment, initially investing €7.5 billion in the first phase. Strategically positioned adjacent to the A‑2 motorway, just 7 km from Calatorao's urban center, and within reach of Lucena de Jalón, Épila, and La Muela .The site benefits from abundant, cost‑effective industrial land, access to clean energy, and strong internet connectivity—including Spain’s international submarine cable infrastructure—making it an ideal location for hyperscale digital infrastructure
⚙️ Facility Highlights
- Campus scale & development phasing: The initial phase will develop approximately 112 hectares (half of the 224‑hectare site), with provisions to expand to the full campus in subsequent phases
- Power capacity: The campus is planned to house up to 300 MW of electrical capacity when fully operational
- Substation infrastructure: A high‑voltage substation is planned to ensure robust power supply, with construction anticipated before the end of 2024
- Phase 1 scope: Includes up to eight separate data center buildings and supporting infrastructure such as utility and drainage systems, to be executed over approximately 24 months starting in Q2 2026
