About Yangju Data Center

Located in Ganap-ri, Gwangjeok-myeon, Yangju City (Gyeonggi Province), the SK broadband Yangju Data Center is a major new facility positioned to support South Korea’s accelerating demand for AI, cloud and carrier-services infrastructure. The site spans approximately 12,300 m² (≈132,500 sq ft) of building area and is the third-largest data centre in SK broadband’s portfolio. Its strategic positioning near Seoul enables low-latency enterprise deployments, cloud on-ramps and next-generation compute infrastructure.

⚙️ Facility Highlights

  1. Construction began in Q3 2023 with an anticipated opening in Q1 2025.
  2. The facility will provide significant power capacity (public sources do not yet specify full MW rating) and is designed to meet Tier III standards of availability.
  3. Built with modern redundancy in mind: dual and diverse utility feeds, N+1 UPS, backup generators and advanced cooling systems suited for high-density loads.
  4. Cooling design leverages building scale, regional climate and efficient airflow management to support enterprise and AI workloads.
  5. Oversight and operations backed by SK broadband’s network infrastructure, enabling tight integration of connectivity, hosting and managed services.

🔐 Security & Compliance

  1. The facility will comply with international norms for data-centre design (redundant systems, building security, monitoring) and South Korean regulatory standards.
  2. Physical security includes 24/7 monitoring, CCTV, controlled access zones, and secure infrastructure layering.
  3. Fire suppression, early-smoke detection and environmental monitoring are built into the design to support high-availability operations.

🌐 Connectivity & Carrier Access

  1. As part of SK broadband’s data-centre portfolio, the site is carrier-neutral, enabling corporate, cloud and network-service providers to access multiple transit, metro and inter-cloud links.
  2. Proximity to Seoul and connection into SK’s broader backbone and metro rings means excellent regional reach and low latency for both domestic and international services.
  3. The facility supports high-density connectivity and is well placed for meeting demands from AI, media, cloud-platform and edge-compute deployments.

💼 Who It Serves

  1. Enterprises and cloud/SaaS providers requiring a high-availability, low-latency data-centre presence in the Seoul metro region.
  2. Network, content and telecom operators needing scalable, carrier-neutral colocation with strong connectivity options.
  3. Organisations deploying AI/ML workloads, edge-compute infrastructure and hybrid-cloud architectures that benefit from regional proximity.
  4. Regulated-industry and mission-critical users looking for resilient infrastructure in South Korea.
