Telekom Malaysia: Klang Valley Core Data Centre (KVDC)
About Klang Valley Core Data Centre (KVDC)
The Klang Valley Core Data Centre (KVDC), operated by TM ONE (the enterprise solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia), is located in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. It forms one half of TM ONE’s “Twin Core Data Centre” strategy, paired with the Iskandar Puteri Core Data Centre (IPDC) to deliver resilient national and ASEAN-region digital infrastructure.
KVDC benefits from its proximity to Telekom Malaysia’s International Gateway in Cyberjaya, making it a strategic interconnection hub for domestic and international traffic. Its position within the Klang Valley region—Malaysia’s densest economic and digital corridor—ensures low latency access to key business districts, government, cloud providers, and hyperscale operators.
Furthermore, the data center is certified to high operational and environmental standards, positioning it as a carrier-neutral and “green” facility in Malaysia’s fast-growing digital infrastructure landscape.
⚙️ Facility Highlights
- Uptime Institute Tier III (Design & Constructed Facility) certification in place for reliability
- LEED Silver certification and GBI DA (Green Building Index Design Assessment) rating for environmental design.
- Total white space: approximately 8,300 m² (≈ 90,000 sq ft) in initial phase.
- Phase 2 expansion underway: combined expansion across KVDC and IPDC to deliver an additional ~20 MW IT load by mid-2025.
- Power system: generator redundancy, UPS systems, and resilient infrastructure built to support Tier III operations.
- Cooling & environmental systems: sustainable design features (e.g. façade shading, light shelves) and efficient energy usage measures.
- Digital expansion: the facility will support AI, cloud, edge, and GPU-as-a-Service workloads with ultra-low latency design.
- Campus interconnect: KVDC is linked to IPDC via a high-capacity “digital super highway” to provide virtual co-location and redundancy.
🔐 Security & Compliance
- PCI DSS compliant, along with ISO/IEC 27001 (Information Security Management) and TVRA (Threat, Vulnerability & Risk Assessment) certified.
- Multi-layer physical security architecture, 24/7 monitoring, and controlled access protocols.
- Compliance with regional regulations and standards, including data-residency and governance frameworks under Malaysian law (e.g. RMiT).
- Security built into design and operations, with continuous risk assessment, surveillance, and access control mechanisms.
🌐 Connectivity & Carrier Access
- Carrier-neutral facility: customers may choose from multiple connectivity providers.
- Direct linkage to Telekom Malaysia’s International Gateway in Cyberjaya, providing seamless international connectivity.
- High-capacity data centre interconnect (DCI) between KVDC and IPDC via 100 Gbps backbone.
- Full access to TM ONE’s national and regional network, enabling integration with TM’s point-of-presence, edge, and fiber network assets.
- Designed to support hyperscale / cloud peering, cross-connects, and regional transit.
