About Captus Generation / Gryphon Digital Alberta AI & Data Center

Captus Generation Alberta AI & Data Center in Pincher Creek, Alberta is a proposed clean-power and data center hub on industrial land in southwestern Alberta. The site is positioned for AI data center development, high-performance computing infrastructure, and large-scale power-consuming digital workloads. Captus owns 850 acres around the existing Drywood Generating Power Plant, with the data center opportunity centered on on-site natural gas-fired electricity, carbon capture and sequestration, and proximity to fiber and transmission infrastructure.

The Alberta AI & Data Center site targets up to 130 MW of power by the end of 2026 and sits on an industrial site with existing natural gas supply, adjacent high-voltage transmission lines, adjacent high-speed fibre infrastructure, existing grid access, and an existing substation. Captus plans a carbon-neutral power hub using natural gas-fired generation with carbon capture and permanent geologic storage in the depleted petroleum field below the site. Alberta Major Projects lists the facility in Pincher Creek No. 9 with a proposed stage and completion by 2026.

The project’s location south of Pincher Creek gives it access to Alberta’s natural gas infrastructure, cool climate, and carbon storage geology. The site is near the historic Pincher Creek natural gas field and is designed around co-location of power generation, emissions abatement, and future data center infrastructure. Captus announced a 2025 acquisition agreement with Gryphon Digital Mining for the site, but Captus later confirmed that Summit Point Capital L.P. acquired Captus Generation on October 8, 2025. The current Captus site continues to position the property as a sustainable power generation site well suited for data centre development.
