Captus Generation

About Captus Generation

Captus Generation is a Calgary-based power infrastructure and data center development platform focused on a planned carbon-neutral power and AI data center hub in southwestern Alberta. The project is located south of Pincher Creek and targets AI data center operators, high-performance computing workloads, and large power-consuming digital infrastructure deployments that require reliable electricity, fiber proximity, and scalable industrial land.

Captus Generation’s platform centers on natural gas-fired power generation with carbon capture and sequestration, using local infrastructure around the historic Pincher Creek natural gas field. The site includes approximately 850 acres of industrial land around the existing Drywood Generating Power Plant, with access to natural gas supply, grid infrastructure, high-voltage transmission, nearby high-speed fiber, and underground storage geology for permanent carbon sequestration.

The planned development envisions 1,200 MW of electricity generation in 400 MW phases with CCS. Initial plans include a full-scale 200 MW power plant, with captured emissions stored beneath the site in a depleted petroleum reservoir. Alberta’s cool climate, energy supply, and carbon storage geology support Captus Generation’s positioning for AI infrastructure and data center campus development.
