Yexio

About Yexio

YEXIO is a next-generation edge data centre network developed by HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions GmbH in partnership with Palladio Partners and operated with Thomas-Krenn AG. The first YEXIO facility, located in Heiligenhaus, North Rhine-Westphalia, marks the beginning of a nationwide rollout of modular, sustainable, and decentralized data centres across Germany.

Built to bring digital infrastructure closer to end-users and enterprises, YEXIO combines low-latency connectivity, regional data sovereignty, and high energy efficiency. Its mission is to strengthen Germany’s local digital resilience while offering secure, eco-conscious hosting for businesses, public institutions, and cloud operators.

⚙️ Facility Highlights

  • The inaugural site in Heiligenhaus occupies approximately 9,000 m² within the regional Innovation Park, strategically positioned between Düsseldorf, Essen, and Wuppertal.
  • Constructed using mass-timber structures, reducing the building’s embodied carbon footprint by an estimated 600 tonnes compared with traditional methods.
  • Incorporates direct water-cooling and heat-reuse systems, with waste heat distributed to local municipal infrastructure such as public swimming pools.
  • Designed for scalable edge deployments, enabling modular expansion to meet regional demand.
  • Part of a planned network of 15 decentralized data centres across Germany, forming a distributed edge backbone for enterprise and AI workloads.

🔐 Security & Compliance

  • Multi-layered physical and digital security including biometric access, CCTV surveillance, and perimeter protection.
  • Facilities designed to meet ISO 27001 and EN 50600 standards for information security and infrastructure reliability.
  • Resilient architecture with redundant power and cooling systems for high availability.
  • Fully compliant with German and EU data protection regulations, ensuring local data sovereignty and adherence to sustainability mandates.

🌐 Connectivity & Carrier Access

  • Designed as a carrier-neutral edge facility, providing low-latency connectivity to regional and national fibre networks.
  • Enables private and public cloud interconnectivity, dark fibre access, and hybrid-cloud integration.
  • Serves as a localised compute node reducing backhaul traffic to distant hubs, ideal for IoT, AI, and Industry 4.0 applications.
  • Connectivity architecture optimised for short data paths and redundant access routes, ensuring reliable service delivery.

💼 Who It Serves

  • Enterprises and SMEs seeking sustainable, local data-hosting options with low latency and high availability.
  • Industrial and manufacturing firms leveraging edge computing and AI applications requiring proximity to production sites.
  • Municipalities and public-sector organisations implementing sovereign digital services hosted within Germany.
  • Service providers and integrators building hybrid-cloud or distributed compute environments supported by regional edge infrastructure.
