Ark Data Centres (UK): Elstree Data Center 3
About Elstree Data Center 3
The Elstree Data Center 3 is part of the Ark Data Centres Elstree campus in the Hertsmere / London outskirts. The Elstree campus is being developed as a large, modular data center hub designed to deliver up to 250 MVA of power across multiple buildings starting from 2028, positioning it among the largest digital infrastructure assets serving the London metropolitan region.
Built to support enterprise, hyperscale, and AI workloads, the Elstree campus enjoys strong connectivity to London, access via major arterial roads (including the A41 and the M25 ring), and proximity to national power and fiber infrastructure.
The site is optimized for modular growth, efficient cooling, and sustainable operation under Ark’s green energy goals.
⚙️ Facility Highlights
- The Elstree campus is planned to deliver ~250 MVA of power across multiple buildings starting 2028.
- The campus is designed with modular, steel-based architectures to speed construction and reduce waste.
- Cooling design: a mix of direct air cooling, indirect air cooling, and liquid cooling for high-efficiency performance and support of high-density deployments.
- Ark emphasizes low PUE, high-density infrastructure, and sustainability in cooling and energy systems.
- Because individual buildings are not fully specified publicly yet, detailed generator, UPS or floor-density numbers for “Data Center 3” are not available from public sources.
🔐 Security & Compliance
- Ark’s facilities follow multi-layer physical security and strict access controls (general Ark policy)
- 24/7 video surveillance and security monitoring are part of Ark’s operational model.
- Ark’s company site lists certifications and standards including ISO 27001, ISO 22301, ISO 50001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, among others, applied across their data center portfolio.
- Compliance credentials (e.g. information security, business continuity, environmental management) are maintained at the corporate level and applied to new facilities.
🌐 Connectivity & Carrier Access
- The Elstree campus is intended to be carrier-neutral, offering choice and resilience in connectivity.
- The campus leverages strong fiber and power infrastructure proximate to London’s connectivity core.
- Ark’s design includes cross-connect and interconnection frameworks to cloud and network partners.
