About Spring Park P4

Ark’s Spring Park P4 Data Centre is part of the modular Spring Park campus in Corsham, Wiltshire, UK, operated by Ark Data Centres. The Spring Park campus lies near Junction 17 of the M4 motorway between Swindon and Bristol and benefits from robust connectivity and supply infrastructure. P4 is a newer building on this high-security campus, designed to expand the campus’s compute capacity and support Ark’s goal of delivering scalable, efficient, modular infrastructure.  The campus itself is envisioned for up to 55 MW of total compute capacity across its buildings.

Spring Park’s appeal comes from its modular design, integration into a large data campus, robust power infrastructure, and proximity to core connectivity routes in the UK.

⚙️ Facility Highlights

  • The Spring Park campus (including P4) is supported by 33 kV diverse power feeds across multiple circuits.
  • The campus-wide permitted standby generator capacity is substantial: 33 standby diesel generators with a total thermal input of ~120 MWth and redundancy configured as N+1
  • Generators use belly tanks with interconnected diesel storage to support ~72 hours of continuous operation per emergency source.
  • The campus (all buildings) has modular design with data halls built in modules, allowing phased expansion.
  • The design PUE target for Spring Park is 1.2 (i.e. 20% overhead for cooling etc).
  • Ark’s strategy includes use of ambient air cooling, indirect air cooling, and design elements for energy efficiency and low carbon operation.
  • The host campus supports up to ~46 MW of IT load (across buildings), with P4 intended to contribute to that scale.

🔐 Security & Compliance

  • The Spring Park campus is considered a high-security facility, adjacent to MOD Corsham, which underscores elevated security posture.
  • Layered physical security across the campus perimeter, fencing, controlled entrance, surveillance.
  • Onsite 24/7 security and monitoring presence (as part of Ark’s standard operations across Spring Park)
  • Compliance with environmental permitting in the UK: the site operates under an Environmental Permit, and must abide by medium combustion plant regulations (for standby generators) under IED / MCPD directives.
  • Diesel storage and generator installations follow containment, drainage, and runoff mitigation rules under the permit.

🌐 Connectivity & Carrier Access

  • The Spring Park campus hosts 16 diverse fibre providers, offering multiple options for network connectivity.
  • The campus supports multiple diverse fiber entry paths, with shared and private Meet-Me Rooms (MMRs) across buildings.
  • Interconnection services and cross-connects are supported across the Spring Park buildings, allowing customers to connect across P1–P5 and share infrastructure.
  • The campus is modular and carrier-neutral, enabling tenants to choose providers and connect to cloud or backbone networks via direct links.

💼 Who It Serves

  • Large enterprises and wholesale infrastructure customers seeking scalable, high-capacity data center services in the UK
  • Cloud providers and hyperscalers needing modular expansion and dense compute campus footprint
  • Network operators, telecoms, and backbone providers looking to interconnect within a high-fibre ecosystem
  • Highly regulated sectors (defense, government, financial services) requiring security and continuity in a fortified campus
  • Firms targeting sustainability and energy-efficiency goals, benefiting from low PUE design and efficient cooling
