About Tsvetochnaya 2 Data Center

Tsvetochnaya 2 (aka “Цветочная 2”) is a Selectel-operated data center located in Saint Petersburg, Russia, at Ulitsa Tsvetochnaya, 19.

Launched in December 2015, it is Selectel’s second facility on Tsvetochnaya street and part of its distributed infrastructure network across Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and the Leningrad region.

Its location in Saint Petersburg brings advantages such as proximity to major Russian Internet backbones, access to fiber infrastructure along the city’s network routes, and integration into Selectel’s regional infrastructure pools.

Because it is part of a multi-site footprint with Selectel’s other facilities (including Tsvetochnaya 1 nearby), clients benefit from resilient multi-zone deployments and reduced latency within the broader network.

⚙️ Facility Highlights

  • The data center supports approximately 1,196 rack slots within its server halls.
  • The server room area is reported at 2,564 m² (≈ 27,597 ft²) for the Tsvetochnaya cluster, of which Tsvetochnaya 2 is a core component.
  • It is designed with N+1 redundancy for both power and cooling systems.
  • The facility was rebuilt from an industrial building into a modern data center; the structural concept assigns one independent data-center zone per floor in the 4-story main building, with a separate annex housing generators, transformers, and switching gear.
  • Each floor is effectively treated as its own deployable data center, with a design target of ~2.5 MW per floor in the original plan.
  • The adjoining annex building is dedicated to the plant systems (diesel generator sets, substation, power distribution).
  • It is rated to Tier III reliability (per Selectel’s public infrastructure description).
  • The site uses a 4/3N backup scheme in its broader infrastructure design (per Selectel’s disclosed architectures) for energy efficiency.

🔐 Security & Compliance

  • Onsite 24/7 video surveillance (100+ CCTV cameras covering building perimeter, entrances, corridors, each room) and magnetic card access controls.
  • Multi-level intrusion detection, access control, and monitoring systems are part of the security infrastructure (as per Selectel’s general DC descriptions).
  • Fully staffed operations with engineers and security personnel present round the clock to respond to alerts, maintenance, and incident handling (per Selectel’s infrastructure operations model).
  • Fire detection and suppression systems: Selectel uses gas-based (Halotron / HFC / “Хладон 125”) fire suppression systems and licensed oversight per Russian fire safety norms.
  • Compliance with Russian laws and certifications: infrastructure is aligned with law 152-FZ for personal data protection.
  • Selectel also holds certification under ISO 27001 and complies with PCI DSS and other international security standards (not necessarily site-specific but at corporate level) as part of its infrastructure branding
  • The infrastructure is eligible for FSTEC / FSB attestations and adheres to regulatory requirements for government and financial sector clients.

🌐 Connectivity & Carrier Access

  • The site is carrier-neutral and supports connections to multiple transit and peering providers within Selectel’s network footprint.
  • It integrates with Selectel’s internal fiber backbone, which spans over 245 km across its data centers and enables cross-site connectivity and redundancy.
  • It is part of the “Tsvetochnaya” availability zone and is connected to the same fiber routes and interconnect infrastructure as the adjacent Tsvetochnaya 1 facility.
  • Internal network architecture uses redundant nodes to avoid single points of failure: all internal network links are redundant (N+? scheme) as per Selectel’s general DC design.
  • Supports interconnection services (cross-connects between clients, inter-rack fiber, access to public exchanges via Selectel’s backbone) within its colocation framework.
  • The facility is included in Selectel’s network map (AS49505) under the Tsvetochnaya location, enabling integration into their transit and peering ecosystem.

💼 Who It Serves

  • Enterprises, cloud providers, or systems integrators needing regional presence in Northwest Russia (St. Petersburg) with low-latency connectivity across Russian backbone networks.
  • Government agencies, financial institutions, or agencies requiring compliance with Russian data sovereignty and regulatory regimes (e.g. handling of personal data under 152-FZ).
  • Providers of IaaS, private/hybrid cloud, CDN / edge caching nodes, or network service firms needing colocation in a robust, scalable facility.
  • Telecom operators, carriers, or regional network operators seeking a peering and interconnection point in Saint Petersburg.
  • E-commerce, media, or high-availability applications requiring resilient infrastructure with multi-zone deployment potential within the Selectel ecosystem.
