About Chania Data Center

The Chania Data Center is located at Saridantoni Street 23, 73136 Chania, Crete, Greece, and is part of Sparkle / Telecom Italia Sparkle’s Mediterranean data center and submarine network infrastructure.

As one of Sparkle’s four Greek facilities (the others in Athens: Koropi, Metamorfosis I & II), Chania plays a strategic role as a landing hub for submarine cables in the Eastern Mediterranean region. In 2024, Sparkle landed the BlueMed submarine cable at Chania, extending the connectivity of routes between Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Because of this cable landing, Chania acts not only as a colocation facility but also as a gateway node bridging undersea and terrestrial network links with Sparkle’s own backbone.
