telecom italia sparkle: Metaformosi II Dat Center
About Metaformosi II Dat Center
The Metamorfosis II Data Center, operated by Telecom Italia Sparkle (Sparkle), is located in the industrial area of Metamorfosi, Athens, Greece. It sits adjacent to Sparkle’s original Metamorfosi I facility, forming part of a core campus for domestic and international interconnection. As Sparkle’s “fourth open data center” in Greece, Metamorfosis II was designed to expand capacity for carriers, OTTs, enterprises, and networks requiring high-availability infrastructure. Its integration with Sparkle’s global fiber backbone and Mediterranean submarine network enhances its strategic relevance in the Southeast Europe and Mediterranean connectivity landscape.

🔐 Security & Compliance
- Certifications: ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 20000-1, ISO 14001, PCI-DSS for Sparkle Greece operations
- Layered access control: biometric gates plus human supervision
- 24/7 monitoring and surveillance across critical zones
- Redundant systems across power, cooling, and network to ensure availability and fault tolerance
🌐 Connectivity & Carrier Access
- Carrier-neutral facility: customers may interconnect freely among carriers or via Sparkle’s infrastructure
- Connectivity to 8 network providers already present in the facility ecosystem
- Integrated with Sparkle’s proprietary metropolitan fiber ring (Athens) and its broader Mediterranean / global backbone (Seabone, Nibble)
- Submarine and terrestrial interconnection: the data center is part of the Nibble optical network across the Mediterranean and links to submarine systems (e.g. BlueMed)
- Meet-Me Rooms on each floor facilitate internal and external interconnection with minimal latency and cross-connect overhead
💼 Who It Serves
