Edged: BIL01 Bilbao-Arasur Data Center

The BIL01 building is part of the Bilbao-Arasur campus, a hyperscale data center campus developed by Edged Energy in partnership with Merlin Properties. It is located in the Arasur industrial and logistics hub, south of Bilbao, in the Basque Country region of northern Spain. The location is strategic: situated at a high-speed fiber crossroads that connects Southern Europe to Northern Europe and offers ultra-low latency links to North America. The campus is designed to serve as a major digital infrastructure node, offering scalable, sustainable colocation and meet-me services. 

⚙️ Facility Highlights

• BIL01 has a planned capacity of ≈ 60 MW of IT power. 
• It is designed with a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.15 guaranteeing high energy efficiency. 
• Uses zero-water (waterless) cooling, including use of ThermalWorks modular cooling systems, which eliminate water usage in cooling. 
• Supports high power density: the campus supports air-cooling up to ~ 70 kW per rack and liquid cooling up to ~ 200 kW per rack. 
• Construction is new build: three stories, built with concrete slab and structural steel; features like two loading dock bays. 

🔐 Security & Compliance

• The site is designed to Tier III standards, concurrently maintainable, offering strong redundancy. 
• Redundancy in critical systems (power, UPS, cooling) is N+1. 
• Fire protection: data halls have double-interlock pre-action mist suppression systems, addressable smoke detectors, with early detection in hot aisles. 
• Security features include perimeter fencing, external access control, interior biometric & ID badge readers, CCTV systems. 
• Environmental / emissions compliance: standby generation systems use Tier 4 Final engines reducing NOₓ and particulates by up to ~99 %.
