Vantage Data Centers: Port Washington (Lighthouse) Data Center Campus - Building 1
About Port Washington (Lighthouse) Data Center Campus - Building 1
The Vantage Data Centers – Stargate Wisconsin campus is a large-scale hyperscale data center development located in Port Washington, Wisconsin, just outside the Milwaukee metropolitan region. Positioned to support demand for advanced AI, cloud and enterprise workloads, the campus represents Vantage’s aggressive move into the Upper Midwest, establishing a strategic foothold in a market with emerging infrastructure and expansion capacity.
Continuing the company’s national growth strategy, this campus underscores Vantage’s commitment to delivering massive scale, high performance and sustainable infrastructure for the next generation of computing. The project is developed in collaboration with major strategic partners and is designed to meet demanding compute, energy and operational requirements.
⚙️ Facility Highlights
- The campus is planned to deliver close to 1 gigawatt (≈1000 MW) of IT capacity across multiple data center buildings.
- The site spans approximately 672 acres, with 500 acres designated for active development and the remainder preserved for biodiversity and sound/visual mitigation.
- Designed with advanced cooling and sustainability technologies, including a closed-loop liquid cooling system that uses minimal water and supports a water-positive strategy (restoring more water than consumed).
- A major energy commitment: the campus will be powered by zero-emission energy resources (solar, wind, battery storage) and aims to allocate 70% of the new clean energy capacity to the campus itself while returning 30% to local communities.
- Infrastructure investment: At least US$175 million will be invested in regional infrastructure upgrades (water/wastewater, power, mains) to support the development and benefit the local community.
- Targeted completion for initial phases is around 2028, aligning with the broader build-out schedule for the project.
🔐 Security & Compliance
- The campus will adhere to industry-leading standards in security, redundancy and operations, leveraging Vantage’s global framework for data center operations.
- Facilities will deploy multi-layer physical security controls: perimeter fencing, vehicle barriers, CCTV surveillance, access control systems, and building management infrastructure.
- Operational systems will integrate redundancies for utilities, mechanical and electrical systems to support high-availability service levels consistent with hyperscale requirements.
- Compliance standards (such as ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, PCI DSS) are expected to apply, as typical for Vantage sites.
🌐 Connectivity & Carrier Access
- The campus is carrier-neutral, designed to accommodate multiple fiber routes, dark-fiber access, cross-connects and private-cloud on-ramps, providing high-redundancy network connectivity.
- Being located near Milwaukee gives advantageous access to Northern U.S. fiber corridors, Midwestern network hubs and low-latency connectivity across regional markets.
- The scale and connectivity profile make the site ideal for enterprises, cloud and AI providers seeking both large-block capacity and network performance in a less congested geolocation.
💼 Who It Serves
- Hyperscale cloud, AI & HPC providers requiring massive compute capacity, high density, and sustainable infrastructure.
- Enterprises and SaaS companies looking for secure, scalable colocation, hybrid-cloud and AI-ready deployments in the Midwest.
- Telecom, content delivery and edge-infrastructure providers expanding footprint in key U.S. markets with fibre access and power reliability.
- Regulated, financial, healthcare and government organisations prioritising U.S.-based, compliant, resilient infrastructure with strong sustainability credentials.
